TRANQUILLITATIS

Mining — TiO₂ at Tranquillitatis & Marius Hills

Ilmenite-rich mare basalts power oxygen extraction and metals—flowing through the Tranquillitatis logistics hub.

Tranquillitatis Metals

Mare Tranquillitatis hosts Fe/Ti-bearing basalts with meaningful ilmenite (TiO₂) content, enabling reduction-driven oxygen production and co-recovery of metals for construction and power systems.

Marius Hills TiO₂

The Marius Hills complex is a prime TiO₂ prospect with nearby lava-tube skylights. Mining and processing align naturally with habitat expansion and dust-safe logistics corridors.

From Ore to Oxygen

ISRU pathways—such as ilmenite reduction and molten-regolith electrolysis—convert TiO₂-rich feedstock into O₂, Ti/Fe alloys, and process heat. Oxygen is liquefied to LOX, then routed to Hub-side storage tanks and standardized cargo skids for propellant and life-support logistics.

Hub LOX Processing & Regolith Flow

  • Feedstock: TiO₂-bearing basalt from Tranquillitatis & Marius Hills, pre-crushed and magnetically sorted.
  • O₂ Production: Ilmenite reduction / MRE produce O₂ + Ti/Fe alloys; off-gas is dried and filtered.
  • Liquefaction: O₂ is cooled and condensed to LOX; purity and kg/hr throughput are logged on-chain.
  • Hub Storage: Cryogenic LOX tanks with boil-off capture and re-liquefaction margins.
  • Cargo Skids: Standardized LOX/pressurant skids enable rapid loading to landers and orbital tugs.
  • Custody & QA: Batch IDs, temperature/pressure telemetry, and purity specs tracked for trade settlement.
